Traffic Value Calculator

Free SEO Tool

What is a Google ranking actually worth?

Put a real dollar figure on an organic ranking. This calculator estimates the monthly clicks a position earns and what that same traffic would cost you in Google Ads — so you can see the money you leave on the table by not ranking.

Your keyword

Total monthly searches for the keyword you want to rank for.

Estimated click-through rate is applied automatically for each position.

This is what you would otherwise pay to buy the same traffic through Google Ads — every month, for as long as you hold the ranking.

Organic rankings do not bill you per click, which makes their value easy to underestimate. This traffic value calculator translates a keyword’s search volume and target position into estimated monthly clicks, then multiplies by the cost-per-click you would pay for the same visitors through paid search. The result is the ongoing advertising spend a top organic ranking effectively replaces.

How it works

Three steps to your numbers

01

Enter search volume

Add the monthly search volume for your target keyword. You can get this from Google Keyword Planner or any keyword research tool.

02

Pick a target position

Choose the Google position you are aiming for. The tool applies a realistic click-through rate for that position automatically.

03

See the paid-search equivalent

Multiply by your average cost-per-click to reveal the monthly and annual value of holding that organic ranking.

Frequently asked questions

How is organic traffic value calculated?
Traffic value estimates what your free organic clicks would cost if you bought them through paid search. The formula is: monthly search volume x click-through rate for your position x average cost-per-click. It expresses the ongoing Google Ads spend that a strong organic ranking effectively saves you every month.
Where do the click-through rates come from?
The tool applies widely used industry benchmarks for organic click-through rate by position, where position one earns roughly 28% of clicks and rates fall steeply down the page. Your real click-through rate varies with search intent, SERP features and how compelling your title and description are.
Why does organic traffic value matter?
It reframes SEO as an investment with a measurable return rather than a cost. A single first-page ranking can be worth thousands of dollars a month in equivalent ad spend, and unlike ads, that value continues for as long as you hold the position without paying per click.
Is a high-CPC keyword always better?
Not necessarily. A high cost-per-click signals commercial value, but also more competition and often lower volume. The best targets balance strong search volume, genuine buyer intent and a difficulty level you can realistically rank for — which is exactly what our keyword strategy work identifies.
Does this include all the keywords a page ranks for?
No, this models a single keyword. In practice, a well-optimised page ranks for dozens or hundreds of related terms, so its true traffic value is usually far higher than any one keyword suggests. Treat this as a conservative, per-keyword estimate.
Can you tell me my site’s total traffic value?
Yes. As part of a free audit we can estimate the total organic traffic value your site currently captures and, more importantly, the value you are missing from keywords you should rank for but do not yet.
