Phrase Count Density
Paste content and click Analyze.

Keyword density is the percentage of times a word or phrase appears relative to the total word count of a page. While there is no magic number to hit, analysing density helps you confirm your content is clearly about its target topic without over-optimising. This analyzer counts single words, two-word and three-word phrases, ignores common stop words, and shows counts and density so you can write naturally and check yourself afterwards.

How it works

Three steps to your numbers

01

Paste your content

Drop in the full text of the page or article you want to check. Everything is processed locally in your browser.

02

Analyze

Click Analyze to see total words, unique words, reading time, and the most frequent single words, pairs and three-word phrases with their density.

03

Refine naturally

Use the results to confirm your topic is clear and spot any word you have accidentally over-used, then edit for readers first.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good keyword density?
There is no exact target, and chasing a specific percentage is outdated advice. As a loose guideline, a primary keyword appearing naturally around 0.5-2% of the time is common, but modern SEO rewards content that covers a topic thoroughly with related terms rather than repeating one exact phrase. Write for humans and use this tool to check you have not over-optimised.
Can high keyword density hurt my rankings?
Yes. Cramming a keyword in unnaturally — known as keyword stuffing — can trigger search engine spam filters and, more importantly, makes content worse for readers. If a term is spiking well above everything else in this tool, that is a signal to rewrite more naturally.
Why ignore stop words?
Common words like the, and, of and to appear constantly in any text and tell you nothing about the topic. Ignoring them, which is the default, surfaces the meaningful terms that actually signal what your page is about. You can toggle this off to see raw frequency.
Does this tool send my content anywhere?
No. All analysis happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded, stored or logged, so it is safe to analyse unpublished or private content.
What are two and three word phrases useful for?
Multi-word phrases, known as n-grams, reveal the actual topics and long-tail phrasings in your content that single-word counts miss. They help you see whether you are naturally covering the specific phrases people search for, not just isolated keywords.
How do I actually improve my content’s SEO?
Density is a diagnostic, not a strategy. Real gains come from matching search intent, covering the topic comprehensively, strong internal linking and solid technical foundations. If you want a full picture of what is limiting your pages, request a free SEO audit.
